Meet ghostly bikers, haunted taxis and headless riders in the film:

“Gathered Tales of Lancashire”

Originally made for the exhibition:

“The King of the Cats: Stories from Lancashire Explored and Re-invented by Four Visual Artists and One Storyteller”

This was a contemporary art exhibition that toured galleries in the north west for two years, exploring stories rooted in the Lancashire landscape through art, film and text.

I had set off on a mission to talk to people across Lancashire and discover some of the stories that are being told now of strange or odd happenings or experiences.

Before long I was following leads across the county, having unexpected conversations on station platforms, chance meetings in cafes and libraries, and being invited into people’s homes.

What struck me was the resonances they had with the old tales of Lancashire.

Together with Graham Kay, we developed a film of different voices that allowed us to play with the stories, the tellers and the 21st century Lancashire landscape.

The full-colour 36 page book that accompanied the exhibition includes the stories and examples of artworks from the exhibition. There are limited copies still available and they can be purchased here for £ 7.50 + £2.50 p&p
